Jammu, Nov 12: Parents and relatives of young navy officer who went missing in naval tragedy at Visakhapatnam on November 6, are passing through nightmarish experiences as every telephone ring make them anxious about the 'whereabouts' of young Gurjeet Singh. Everyone including parents at home is anxiously worried about the whereabouts of Gurjeet Singh (25), who is among the four missing sailors of Indian navy after a Torpedo Recovery Vessel of Indian Navy submerged near Visakhapatnam coast on November 6, during a naval exercise, leaving one dead and four others missing, parents broke down with tears. Infact the words fails to express the mental ordeal to which the family members of a navy personnel, Gurjeet Singh (25), resident of Bhour Camp Satwari, Jammu are subjected to these days since 'Naval Tragedy on November 6', as they haven't received any information about Gurjeet Singh. Talking to Early Times, brother of missing sailor, Ramandeep Singh said that they have talked to Singh last time on November 5 when he was on board and since then they have no information about his whereabouts. "Though we are in regular contact with the high command of the Navy at Visakhapatnam, but we haven't received any information about the wellbeing of Gurjeet," he said, adding that the officers at the coast however have on anonymity maintained that they are not properly equipped with to trace the missing sailors. He said that one of the Navy lieutenants, Dr Dhanvant also visited them personally at their home in Jammu and expressed the concerns and solidarity with them in this crucial time. Ramandeep further added that as per the officials who are in our contact that a board of inquiry headed by a captain has been constituted to investigate the circumstances leading to the accident at Vishakapatnam and the same shall decide further course of action to rescue missing sailors from the sunken vessel. He said, "While the Chief of Navy is claiming to have expedited search operations, some officials at Vishakapatnam revealed that the Navy is mulling plans to hire sophisticated machinery from private firms to further expedite the ongoing search operations at accident site. |
