BARAMULLA, Jan 12: Nine persons, including three of a family were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a Tata Sumo and a load carrier in Baramulla district of North Kashmir on Monday. A Sumo bearing registration number JKO9A/2565 while on way from Kupwara to Srinagar collided with a load carrier 407 vehicle bearing registration number JKO1W/1652 near Boose Ringe, of Sopore town, a police spokesperson said. He said the accident took place near Boosa Ringe area of Tarzoo in Sopore township at 08:15 am , on the Srinagar-Kupwara Highway. The deceased included a trio, Sara Begum W/O Ghulam Ahmad Malik, Naza Begum W/O Mohammad Shafi, Mohammad Shafi S/O Ghulam Ahmad Malik R/O Gagroosa Kupwara, all these three persons had belonged to one family. The others were identified as Dilshad Ahmad Peer S/O Ali Mohammad R/O Kralpora, Waseem Ahmad Malik S/O Bashir Ahmad Malik R/O Trehgam, Abdul Majeed Dar S/O Mohammad Muzaffar Dar R/O Doolipora, Parvaiz Ahmad Malik S/O Bashir Ahmad Malik R/O Doolipora, Arfat Hussain S/O Mohammad Hussain Zargar R/O Trehgam Kupwara. Four persons, including two non locals of Kolkota- Mohammad Ishaq S/O Aleem-Ud Din R/O Kolkata, Mohammad Saleem Akhter S/O Mohammad Muzamil R/O Kolkata were injuried in the mishap. Officil said that more people from Kupwara have been injuried in a road mishap who were identified as Farooq Ahmad Najar S/O Ghulam Hassan R/O Gagroosa, Aijaz Ahmad Lone S/O Mohammad Qasim R/O Doolipora Kupwara, all injured have been shifted to JVC, and SKIMS Srinagar, for further treatment. Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police(SDPO) Sopore Riyaz Ahmad told early times that, "we got a call about this tragic road accident which happened on Monday morning at 08:15 am on Srinagar -Kupwara highway at Boose Renge, official added and said that a case has been registered in Police station Tarazoo Sopore under FIR no 279, 304 A, 427 RPC. Meanwhile in another road accident, a mini bus (City Express) bearing registration number JK05A-6718 hit a middle aged person Manjit Singh S/O Mahinder Singh R/O Kanlibagh Baramulla near Sheerwani Hall in Baramulla town, who succumbed to his injuries in District Hospital Baramulla on Monday afternoon, police official said. However a case have been registered in Baramulla police station vide FIR no 09/2015, US 279/337 and during investigation 304 A was added, official said Early Times contacted Deputy Superintendent of traffic police, Suhail Ahmad who said about this tragic road accident that, " as for our knowledge is concerned, Tata sumo was going in a high speed of 90-100 kmph. The driver of the vehicle was overtaking a tipper and in a head-on collision between tata Sumo and a load carrier, these passengers lost their precious lives,and I express my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for the recovery of those who have been injured in this tragic road accident, official said. It is pertinent to mention here that, "The Department of Traffic Police in north Kashmir is holding a special programme to create awareness and check traffic violations in the twin districts of Baramulla and Kupwara where incidents of road accidents have become a cause of concern. Road Safety Week is being observed in Jammu and Kashmir from January 11 to 17. Various programmes related to road safety will be held by the Department of Traffic Police. |
