Jammu, Jan 12: Former Provincial President of NC, Rattan Lal Gupta said that he was with the stand of party high command. When asked, if he was against the settlement of West Pakistani Refugees, he said, "It is the party high command to decide". The newly elected Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Bishnah Assembly Kamal Arora constituency was tight lipped over the issue and said, "I am silent. I have no opinion not favour not against". When asked, if he was in favour of party high command stand, he said, "Not to write anything from my side". Provincial President Devinder Rana, when contacted said that he was busy in core committee meeting in Srinagar and could only reply after meeting would be over. Later, after repeated calls, he didn't pick up his phone. A political analyst says that the silence of NC leaders over the issue of settlement and their silence even to tow the line of party, portends that they are virtually in a catch-22 situation, as if they give any statement in favour, then they would be against party high command and if they stood with party line, they would be termed as anti-Hindus. "The silence of NC leaders, speaks the volume of indecisiveness over the issue", he said. |
