Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 12: The much publicized policy of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department to ensure the timely home delivery of LPG Cylinders has failed to take off as the delivery of against booking on IVR which earlier took 3 to 4 days is delayed now by 20-25 days to the inconvenience and suffering of the consumers.
Reliable sources said that the CAPD department Jammu region has failed to ensure the home delivery of the LPG Cylinders as the gas agencies which are given authorization by the department to deliver the same are not working properly. Sources said that a new process of getting delivery of subsidized cylinders is going to start as soon as the registration forms for the same are filled up, but the old process is slowed down by the agencies. Sources also said that the delay in getting delivery of LPG cylinders is on the part of Gas agencies only.
Sources further said that on contacting one of the LPG distributors of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited namely Jammu Gas Agency Rehari , the reply was contradictory as the agency replied saying ,"Either the delay is due to shortage of Manpower or there might be acute shortage of LPG".
A consumer of the same gas agency when contacted said that the general public of Jammu city is facing a lot of problems with this delay in the delivery of the gas cylinder owing to the non availability of gas cylinder in time.
While on contacting Ajai singh, Public grievances Redressal Officer Jammu LPG RO (HPCL), the officer refused to accept any reason for the delay given by the distributor saying, " there is no such shortage of either the Manpower or of LPG Cylinders". Moreover he added that certain complaints against the same distributor also came into their notice and the PGRO also have discussed the matter in a meeting.
