Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 12: People in general are buoyed by the imposition of Governor rule in Jammu and Kashmir as they expect that decisions taken by the Raj Bhawan shall be devoid of political bias and vested interests. However, whether or not the Governor will undo the wrongs done by the political dispensations is a question which has its answer in time.
Governor N N Vohra hit the nail on the head when he chaired a meeting of the administrative secretaries in the civil secretariat the previous day, making a special mention of departments of Education and Housing and Urban Development, as these two departments had gained notoriety in the previous regime for unprecedented irregularities, corruption and nepotism.
With rising expectations from the Governor, people hope that the Raj Bhawan shall proceed against tainted officers who have resorted to gross irregularities and yet got rewards from their political masters. There are several officers who were patronized and encouraged by Ministers of Omar led Coalition Government despite serious allegations of corruption against them and even FIRs pending against them in Crime and Vigilance organization.
Nutan Rasutra and Tarsem Lal are two glaring examples of Omar government's patronization to the corrupt. While Nutan was appointed as the Chairman of the JKBOSE a day before the Model code of conduct was imposed in the state ahead of Assembly elections, despite multiple cases of financial misappropriation pending against him, Tarsem Lal, the CEO Jammu was not touched despite being indicted in recruitment scam.
Astoundingly, Nutan Rasutra managed a stay from the Apex Court and shamelessly continued to assume headship of the JKBOSE after J&K High Court asked the government to get him removed from the post till he was cleared by the SVO in multiple cases pending against him. Similarly, eventhough the investigating agency demanded arrest of CEO Tarsem Lal in recruitment scam for custodial interrogation, he not only escaped arrest, he was merely posted in State institute of Education in the office of the Director School Education Jammu.
Masses now expect Governor to remove such tainted officers from the posts they managed for themselves by greasing palms of their political masters so as to ensure clean governance and restore peoples' trust.
