Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 12: In order to lodge their protest against the conduct of interviews for various posts under to be filled up under PM package Kashmiri Pandit youth today staged a demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan and later met the Secretary to Governor, N N Vohra and submitted a memorandum to him demanding that the interviews for the posts of teachers, lab assistants etc under PM package be held at Jammu instead of Kashmir Valley.
The protest was led by the BJP Displaced Unit president T N Bhat.
The protestors raising slogans in support of their demands demanded that the interviews be held at Jammu in view of inclement weather conditions in Valley.
They said that the candidates have already passed the written test and for interviews they have to report in respective district headquarters like Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla, Pulwma, Budgam, Ganderbal and Anantnag which are far off and the candidates under the prevailing circumstances are unable to attend the same.
They said that the Government could have easily managed to conduct such interviews at Jammu when entire Government machinery is functioning from here.
Later in the memorandum submitted to Governor they demanded that the process needs to be reviewed on humanitarian grounds and interviews be conducted at Jammu so that these youth are spared from unwanted depression and the huge economic burden on account of bus fare and boarding and lodging arrangements as the community has miserably suffered in 25 years of turmoil.
The members of delegation included T N Bhat, Varinder Kitchloo, Bansi Bhat, Ashok Bhat , D N Kisoo, P N Pandita, Veena Gurtu, A N Pandita, P L Dhar and others.
Meanwhile various KP organizations have also expressed their resentment over the callousness of SSRB in calling the interviews of migrant candidates in Kashmir Valley.
JKVM national spokesperson, Dr R L Bhat while condemning the same demanded that the decision be reviewed immediately and interview of migrant candidates be held at Jammu in view of vagaries of weather in Kashmir.
KHC president M L Thusoo and convener P L Koul Badgami also viewed the SSRB decision seriously and demanded immediate rescinding of the decision.
While viewing the decision seriously more KP bodies have made an appeal to Governor N N Vohra and urged him to issue instructions to Chief Secretary and Chairperson SSRB that the interviews for teachers posts under PM package scheduled on January 17 should be held at Jammu instead of Kashmir Valley due to unfavourable weather conditions prevailing there.
