Educational institutions, organizations celebrate Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda | | | GS Accounts Institute paid tribute to the Swami Vivekananda and his birthday is celebrated as National Youth Day on Monday. According to press release, G.S.Accounts Institute Students lead by Chairmen cum senior faculty Girish Sharma along with the Ravinder Kumar senior faculty and all the staff members of the Institute lightened the traditional lamp at Institute Premises and offered garland to Swami. Girish Sharma said Swami Vivekananda was born on January 12, 1863 into an aristocratic family in Bengal. His original name was Narendra Nath Datta. He was the chief disciple of the 19th-century saint Ramakrishna and a key figure in the introduction of the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world. He credited with raising inter-faith awareness, bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion during the late 19th century. He was a major force in the revival of Hinduism in India, and contributed to the concept of nationalism in colonial India. Swami Vivekananda founded the Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission. He is best known for his inspiring speech at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago in 1893, which began, "Sisters and brothers of America," and in which, he introduced Hinduism. Earlier the programme started with recitation of verses of the Rastiya Gaan and bajan by Programme Coordinator Shalini Kumari presented formal welcome address and also threw light on the importance of the day. |
