ATMA educates fruit growers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 12 : A day long training camp of fruit growers was organized by Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Jammu at Govt Fruit Plant Nursery, Maralia in which fifty farmers participated. The training was organised by Dr V S Verma Project Director, B B Sidha and Ravinder Kachroo Deputy Project Directors of ATMA under National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology for educating the farmers about latest methods of orchard plantation and scientific methods of orchard management for increasing fruit production enhancing income. Sudheer Sharma, Horticulture Development Officer of Horticulture Department educated the fruit growers about the modern methods of orchard plantation and proper management of fruit orchards. He also underscored the importance of proper intercultural operations for conservation of soil moisture to tide over the dry spells and keeping the orchard healthy. The farmers were also cautioned against the alarming threat of yellow rust disease in wheat crop that might infect wheat crop due to the prevailing cold and humid climatic conditions which favoured development of the disease and were advised to spray the wheat crop with propiconazole with the appearance of the disease. The training camp was organized under the supervision of Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu and District Agriculture Officer (Extension), Jammu with the coordination of S K Garyali (AEO) and Sanyog Kotru (Research Assistant). Subash Chander Sharma, Panch of Maralia and many other prominent citizens of area were also present in the training camp. |
