Azad is only hope to manage required numbers Rajya Sabha polls | To save its skin, NC decides to surrender before Cong | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 27: After getting crushing defeat in the Assembly polls, National Conference is looking towards Congress to save its skin in the coming Rajya Sabha elections. Instead of fielding its own candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat, National Conference is likely to support a candidate of Congress party to win at-least one seat. National Conference has 15 members, which is three more than Congress which has 12 members, the former is ready to support the latter. Credible sources said that National Conference is trying to convince Congress high command to field Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad for one Rajya Sabha seat. NC leadership believed that only Azad has capability and potential to manage some independent and MLAs of smaller parties to win atleast one Rajya Sabha seat. Credible sources said that National Conference leadership is in touch with Congress high command to field Ghulam Nabi Azad. Congress and National Conference combined would touch the number of 27 and both the parties required support of minimum four MLAs of other parties to ensure victory on one Rajya Sabha seat. National Conference leadership is very much aware that neither any independent nor MLAs of smaller parties would not vote for their candidate t any cost so party has pinned its hope only on Ghulam Nabi Azad. Credible sources said that National Conference leadership is desperately trying that neither PDP-BJP alliance would not win all the four seats of Rajya Sabha so party leadership has decided to support candidature of Ghulam Nabi Azad to accomplish its task. PDP-BJP combine is all certain to win three out of four seats and there would be contest on four seats. Both these parties needed support of four MLAs of smaller parties and Independent to make sure victory on the fourth seat. |
