| BSNL authorities play truant with Budgam residents, snap services on regular basis | | | Shakeel A Khan

BUDGAM, Jan 29: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) which claims to be most reliable telecom service provider of the country has time and again let the people of this Central Kashmir district down.
The services of this telecom company remain suspended for most of the time despite the fact that the commuters are forced to pay even for the 'erratic' period. The services automatically get snapped at least for couple of days in a week hence bringing utter frustration in the minds of the commuters more so in the people who use the broadband services of this telecom company.
"It is a matter of ill luck for the people like me who have been deprived of the continuous back up supply as my job is connected with the down loading of forms and other relevant material which cannot be done without the access to the hassle free internet supply. The frequent breakdown of the signal harms me instead of doing any good to the people like me," said Showkat Ahmad from Soibugh.
When it comes to the payment, there is no compromise and if one gets late by a day in paying the bill, the BSNL authorities waste no time to put the number temporarily out of service. But when there is breakdown in the services, it takes days along to be restored, Showkat went on saying.
Businessmen and those persons whose jobs rely heavily on the internet facility suffer on account of the frequent breakdown of the signal. In the month of January alone, signal broke down for days together hence paralyzing commuters of many parts of the district which include Nasarullahpora, Soibugh, Sebdan, Sholipora and of many more villages hence putting the question mark on the efficiency of the leading telecom company of the country.
"Only yesterday the Broadband services got suspended all of a sudden leaving the commuters in great pain. In the second week of the instant month, the services of the BSNL got snapped for at least three days which is unaffordable for the people whose earning is subject to the availability of the internet facility," said Zahoor Ahmad who runs a Photostat shop besides doing the on line business.
Not only the businesses, poor services of BSNL have also affected the functioning of banks as well in many areas of the district. The ATMs installed in the area remain out of service for the reasons of the poor BSNL services. |
