Demanding release of pending bills, JK CCCC stages protest demonstration | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 29 : Jammu and Kashmir Central Contractors Coordination Committee (JK CCCC) today staged protest demonstration against government demands release of pending bills. According to press release, members of committee said that the government's failure to release their bills which were pending with various departments since first quarter the current financial year. The protest demonstration was led by its J&KCCCC General Secretary Farooq Ahmad Dar in which contractors from various districts participated. Police swung into the action and arrested dozens of contractors including JKCCCC General Secretary Farooq Ahmad Dar and ldged them in Kothi Bagh Police station. The protesting contractors appraised the hardships the contractors are facing due to the non-clearance of the bills. The contractors alleged that bills worth Rs 900 crore are pending with the various departments for since the start of the current financial year. "Government is doing sheer injustice with contractors which are also affecting developmental works in the Valley. Bills worth Rs 900 crore are pending with government departments which are not released for unknown reasons," said Farooq Dar. |
