First governing body meeting of Autonomous College held at Parade | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 29 : The first meeting of the Governing Body of the Autonomous College GCW Parade was held today in the college which was chaired by Prof. Y.R Malhotra, the former Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu. According to press release, the other members who attended the meeting were Prof. Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, as University nominee; Prof. T.A Kawoosa, Director Colleges as government nominee, Prof. Seema Jain, U.G.C nominee, Dr.Vijay Gupta (Former Principal Medical College Jammu) as professional, Prof. Veena Gupta, former Principal, as an educationist, Prof. Tabassum Ara and Prof. Geetanjali A. Rana, Senior faculty of the college, and Prof. (Dr.) Hemla Aggarwal, the Principal of the college Member Secretary as Ex-officio. The Principal welcomed the members and briefly explained the issues to be discussed in various agenda items Prof. Y.R Malhotra, the chairman of the meeting congratulated the Principal and the staff of the college on attaining the autonomous status. Governing Body approved eight external members of the Academic Council of the college one member of the Finance Committee and presented their views on the formation and functioning of the Board of Studies, Academic Council, Finance Committee and Examination Cell.The Governing body also discussed that Certificate courses and (Diploma Courses) in different subjects like Clinical-Biochemistry, Interior decoration Web-designing and other subject should be started in the college. It was suggested the college should approach the University to recognize the college as research centre for implementation of Ph.D programmes in Music and CRME. Issues like fixation of fee, Examination reforms, Scholarship and medals were also discussed and it was resolved that no change should be made in the fee structure and scholarship and it may be acc ording to the past practice and at par with other colleges. The members further suggested the college should acquire additional land for the extension of college hostel as required in the near by area. |
