GBSWA criticizes Academy of Art, Culture and Languages | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Jan 29 : Gujjar and Bakerwal Students Welfare Association (G&BSWA) criticized the officials of J&K Academy of Art and Culture and district officials for ignoring Gojri language in the cultural items presented by the students during Republic Day celebrations in Rajouri and Poonch districts. A meeting of members was held at Rajouri today which was chaired by Guftar Ahmed Choudhry, president G&BSWA and was attended by the office holders and many students. Expressing resentment over the neglect of the Gojri language, which is being spoken by more than 60% population in Rajouri and Poonch frontier districts, student leaders criticized the concerned authorities and said out of 16 such cultural items presented by the school children none among them was in Gojri language. "Lot of money has been shown spent on the promotion of Gojri language in both the districts but on ground no such activities have taken place and where the money had gone, nobody knows" said Guftar Choudhry. He added that it's a serious matter and should not be ignored. Student leaders have appealed to the Governor to initiate an inquiry into this matter. Student leaders also appealed to the students and youth from both the communities to come on one platform to fight for their rights as they have become the victim of discrimination, in every field, since independence. |
