DC Kishtwar enjoys NHPC perks; People face acute water, power woes 1/30/2015 10:59:06 PM Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, Jan 30: Exposed for being in possession of four luxurious vehicles including those belonging to GVK Powers limited, Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited, NHPC and an official vehicle, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar is also enjoying many other undue perks from NHPC Kishtwar. As per details available with Early Times, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar enjoys uninterrupted power and water supply to his NHPC owned official residence situated at NHPC colony while at the same time, people of Kishtwar are facing 12 to 14 hour power cuts. Besides prolonged power cuts, people are facing drinking water woes as well. The NHPC authorities provides residential accommodation to DC Kishtwar as a courtesy, but if sources are to be believed, DC Kishtwar even did not pay the electricity and water bills to the concerned department. "No we have no electricity connection registered in the name of official quarter of DC Kishtwar situated at NHPC colony. NHPC paid electricity bills to Power Development Department according to the power utilized "said NHPC officials adding that the residence of DC was provided with special connection for uninterrupted power supply. It is pertinent to mention that under Memorandum of Understanding on 390 MW Dool-Hasti Power Project between NHPC and the government of Jammu and Kashmir, the NHPC is suppose to carryout various public welfare schemes in the District, but till date the corporation failed to carry out any major public welfare initiative and in turn extended undue favours to DC Kishtwar, which tantamounts to appeasement by India's richest public sector corporation who earned more than 3 crore/day from the power generation of 390 MW Dool-Hasti Power project.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
