Contenders rush to Jammu to appease Mehbooba | Race for PDP District President posts heats up | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Early Times Report Kishtwar, Jan 30:- After disbanding all party units including district units soon after the reelection of Mehbooba Mufti as party president for next three years, the leaders are lobbying hard for retaining party posts; while at the same time new entrants in the party are also lobbying for entry into the units. As per the details available with Early Times, many party leaders from different districts of the state were seen hovering around the party office at Jammu and Srinagar, beside are making an attempt to meet with party patron Mufti Mohammad Syed and Party President Mehbooba Mufti to stake claim on district president posts or for their adjustments in provincial or state body which party is expected to announce shortly. Many party leaders from Kishtwar and adjoining Doda District visited the Jammu for the purpose while many among them are still stationed in Jammu and are waiting for the outcome on party's district, provincial and state body list. Meanwhile the sources said that there are several contenders for the post of district president from Kishtwar which include Advocate Sheikh Nasir Hussain, Raiz Ahmed Zarger (Retired ADDC), Mushtaq Ahmed Qazi (retired ADC), Suresh Sharma, Umar Malik, Ishtaq Ahmed Waza and party candidate in last Assembly election Firdous Ahmed Tak. The sources said that chances of Ishtaq Waza, Suresh Sharma and Firdous Tak becoming the District president for Kishtwar are more as compared to the others while at the same time the same time the candidature of Sheikh Nasir Hussain who also holds the post of Youth Congress President Kishtwar before joining PDP cannot be ruled out. The sources added that party might repeat Mohammad Umar Malik as District Youth President Kishtwar, but Wasil Doolwals candidature is also under consideration of the party. The sources added that party leadership is scrutinizing the list of possible probable and is also reviewing their performance in last assembly election for their consideration in the final list. The sources said that MLC Syed Asgar along with Mehboob Iqbal and B A Runyal will find their names in provincial and state body. "It is the party president who had to decide about my role--- if party feels I am fit to give my services for the party; I am ready for every responsibility to be assigned to me by the party president" said Suresh Sharma when asked about ongoing lobbyism in PDP for District President post. He said that party is aware about the ground situation, added that whatever decision party takes will be in the interest of party and Kishtwar District. He said that he did not believe in visiting Jammu and hovering around PDP office and party president residence, added that his top priority is to fulfill the promises made by the party with people of Kishtwar during assembly election campaign. Similar views were expressed by Sheikh Nasir Hussain when approached for the comment. |
