Demanding revise in passengers’ fare Sarpanches stage protest demonstration | | | Early Times Report
udhampur, Jan 30: Demanding immediate revise in passenger fare, Sarpanches, Panches of various panchyat's today stages protest demonstration against district administration, burnt effigy here at Kambal Danga. Addressing the gathering, Sarpanch East Mand Surjeet Singh said that the oil companies have done a great and people-friendly job by slashing the diesel price and now it is up to transporters and government to come forward for the welfare of people and justified reason. He said that there is no reason that the fare should remain same when the diesel and petrol prices are slashed down. Speaking on the occasion, he alleged that the state administration has failed to revise the passenger fare and transport charges in accordance with the steep fall in the global oil prices. They stated that the administration was trying to create undue credit of global decrease in oil prices but no benefit has been percolated to the common people especially the student fraternity. They appealed the Governor to immediate intervene in this matter and save the poor people from deep rooted from the hands of some vested interests . They asked the people to come forward to join this moment and force the government to reduce the fare by 30 percent immediately. |
