Assembly condemns Swamy's statement on Mosques | | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Jammu, Mar 18 : The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in its first meeting today unanimously condemned the statement of BJP's Subramanian Swamy in which he said that "Mosque is not a religious place, can be demolished any time". The issue was raised by Congress Member Ghualm Mohammad Saroori through calling attention motion and was supported by National Conference members, Peoples Democratic Party members and by few Bhartiya Janta Party members as well. Later the House passed unanimously the resolution condemning Subramanian Swamy for his comment. Majority of the members termed the statement of Swamy as bluff and demanded that he (Swamy) should be booked for hurting the feelings of a particularly community. "Today he says something about mosques, tomorrow someone else will say wrong about churches, Sikh temples and Hindu religion--- every such act should be condemned in one voice" said Congress MLA Ghulam Mohammad Saroori. He said that Swamy's statement was an attempt to divide the people of India on the basis of religion, adding that any such statement is a threat to peace and stability of the country and demanded immediate arrest of Swamy. House adopted the resolution unanimously and condemned Swamy's statement in one voice. |
