Coalition for paradigm shift in JK polity to bridge gap between regions 3/19/2015 12:06:22 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 18: The BJP-PDP alliance has decided to make the paradigm shift in the J&K polity. The parties are keen to bridge the gap between two regions: Jammu and Kashmir. It was reflective in the Governor's address, which was the first address of the Governor of the new government. The first paras of the address were addressed to bridging the gap between the two regions, bring them closer. The address also states that the efforts will be made to bring out the trust between J&K and the N Delhi. The two parties have contested the elections on divergent platform. The PDP had contested the elections on the plank of the keeping alive the 'nationhood' of the Kashmir and keeping out the BJP. The BJP had contested the elections on the plank of 'nationalism' and bringing an end to the Kashmir 'hegemony'. The coming together of the parties marks a shift in the polity of the State. Representing different ideologies, the two parties can bridge the gap between regions. The state has been inflicted by this gap for large period of the time. In the previous government no substantial effort was made. In fact the Governor's address, which outlines the objectives and intent of the government, of the previous government were silent on it. The NC especially the Omar Abdullah tried to showcase himself as the chief minister of the Kashmir rather than of the entire Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions. He give only lip service to the aspirations of the Jammu and rather kept raking up the issues of the Accession and AFSPA to deflect public attention from his governance and to project him as the sole savior of the Kashmiri 'nationalism'. "Mufti has all along been trying to get both Jammu and Kashmir close. He spent majority of his time in the Jammu. In the previous tenure, he helped the BJP constituencies and now when the two parties are in partner, he will do much more with the help of the BJP this time.
