JKBOSE's Syllabus of Accountancy for Class XII outdated: Social activist writes to CM | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 18: A social activist and ex-member of prominent Citizen Advisory Committee constituted by the state government Sukesh C Khajuria today submitted a representation to the Chief Minister, Dy CM and Minister for Education to seek modification in the syllabus of accountancy subject for Class XII prescribed by JKBOSE. According the fax message sent to chief minister and others, the social activist Sukesh C Khajuria, has sought revision in respect of revised schedule Vi of the Companies Act 1956 enforced w.e.f.01-04-2011 as has been revised by CBSE in 2012 & ISC in 2013 ( Now renumbered as Schedule III in Companies Act 2013 enforced w.e.f ( 01-04-2014 )& the new companies Act 2013. Sukesh C.Khajuria who has been teaching Accountancy subject for the last more than 36 yrs has stated that there some serious lacunas in the said syllabus as the Syllabus is based upon the companies Act 1956. "Perhaps JKBOSE is unaware that the said Schedule VI has been revised by the Central government in February,2011. The central Government ,in exercise of the power under Section 64(1) of the companies Act 1956 has replaced the existing schedule VI with the revised schedule VI on 28th February 2011 pertaining to the preparation of balance sheet & P&l account under the companies Act 1956 ( Renumbered As Schedule III in the companies Act 2013 enforced w.e.f 01-04-2014) Sukesh C Khajuria pointed out in the representation that basics pertaining to prepare balance sheet and statement of P&L have updated and in the wake of terms used in these statements, there is significant impact/changes on topics/chapters dealing with Company Accounts, Comparative Statements, Common Size Statements, Accounting Ratios and Cash Flow Statements. Although the said Schedule VI has been revised on 01-04-2011(renumbered as schedule III in the companies Act 2013 enforced w.e.f 01-04-2014) but the J&K BOSE is unaware of the fact and over 55% of the syllabus is irrelevant being outdated vis-à-vis the revised schedule VI (renumbered as schedule III in the companies Act 2013 enforced w.e.f. 01-04-2014). Expressing concern over the future of Accountancy students, Khajuria said if the government fails to get syllabus updated for Accountancy subject, the students could not be able to compete with the students of other states. |
