Floriculture department launches plantation drive 3/20/2015 11:51:43 PM Jammu, Mar 20 : To celebrate world arboriculture day, a plantation drive was launched by Floriculture Department Jammu at Akali Kour Singh Nagar Park Digiana, Jammu by Director, Floriculture Jammu KK Sharma. Total no of 150 saplings were planted during the event and it was decided to increase the no of saplings to 1500 in different parks in the coming days. Speaking on the occasion, Director Floriculture Jammu said that the plantation of trees, shrubs etc. will not only beautify our surroundings but will act as lungs for us by purifying the air and will reduce the effect of global warming and deforestation. Assistant Floriculture Officer, I/c Digiana Parks RK Sharma thanked the Director for sparing his valuable time for such a noble cause and said that too many people are content to simply plant a tree but don't ensure that the tree has a chance to go on to live for many years and suggested that the people must care and nurture young trees so that they pay dividend for years to come.
