Kathua terror attack rock both Houses in J&K | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 20: Both the houses of state legislature on Friday were rocked by the fidayeen attack at Rajbagh police station, Kathua in which four people were killed. As soon as proceedings for the day started in the assembly on Friday, opposition Congress and National Conference stood on their seats targeting government for its failure to prevent the fidayeen attack. NC member Davender Singh Rana while targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Now where is the 56 inch chest when the innocent people are dying. What about the claims that a strong message will be given in case of any such provocation". Pointing towards BJP members, Rana said, "Why you are silent today, otherwise you would have dubbed it as attack on Nation. Rana demanded for adjourning the house. Dissatisfied with reply by Deputy Chief minister Nirmal Singh, NC member Javed Rana said,"What kind of the government is this who do not have the complete information about the encounter". Rana said the government's response is unsatisfactory and they are 'ill-informed. "What measures government is tacking to tackle the situation and what is their mobilization. If such incidence has happened earlier you (BJP) have protested and have made all kinds of statements. Now it seems that clinging on to chairs is your only motive", he added.NC member Ali Mohd Sagar said, "The government has no information about what is going on at Rajbagh police station". Congress member Vikar Rasool said, "The house wants to know what government is doing. How the militants manage to infiltrate to our side whether it was an intelligence failure or a security lapse". "House should pass a resolution of condemning the attack and paying sympathies with next to bereaved", said Vikar. CPI(M) member Tarigami said, "There should be a debate on the overall situation. What government intends to do in future to prevent such types of attacks. We all must speak in one voice and condemn the terror attack. Later, Congress members in the upper were marshaled out for protesting in the well of house against terror attacks. In upper house too trouble started when it commenced in the morning. Congress members stood on their seats condemning the incident. Congress member Jugal Kishore Sharma said, "There were plans to remove Armed Forces Special Powers Act(AFSPA) from the state on the demand of PDP. How can BJP concede to any such demands in the present situation". Another Congress Ravinder Sharma said, "Today's dastardly attack should be any eye opener to those demanding withdrawal of AFSPA. The whole system has been exposed". "They(Mufti Sayeed) said Pakistan contributed in holding peaceful assembly elections in J&K. That was absolutely wrong; it is the Pakistan on whose behest innocent lives are taken", said Ravinder. Congress member Naresh Gupta said, "This (terror attack) was carried out with Pakistan's blessing. It is absolutely a coward act and present government is in deep slumber". Ravinder Sharma urged chairman to hold discussion on issue and Pakistan should be condemned. Shouting anti-government and anti -Pakistan slogans Later Jugal Kishore Sharma, Ravinder Sharma, Naresh Gupta and Sham Lal Bhagat trooped to well of the house and kept on protesting. Later on the directions of Chairman Amrit Malhotra they were marshaled out of the house. Militants barged into Rajbagh police station in Kathua district on early Friday morning killing four persons, including three security personnel and leaving 10 others injured. |
