Desh kai gaddaroon ko...' | BJP faces embarrassing situation during Singh's arrival | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 27: In a tit for tat situation, the bandh enforcers today used the same slogan against the BJP which its activists were seen raising for years together against successive regimes in the state. "Desh kay gadaroon ko..." This was a common slogan raised by BJP activists during all its agitations for over two decades against Congress and National Conference governments which ruled in the state and at the Centre. But much to the chagrin of the BJP, this slogan was today raised against BJP by the bandh enforcers in front of K.K. Resorts gate when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was about to arrive. Giving a slip to cops who had been deployed in strength at the Paloura and Talab Tillo-Bohri road to avert any embarrassing situation during the arrival of Singh, the bandh enforcing activists and protestors including Bar Association members and transporters reached the K. K. Resorts gate and shouted slogans against the government for shifting AIIMS to Kashmir. The protestors misled the cops at Bohri Chungi, where barricades were erected by police, by carrying BJP flags in hands and after reaching at the gate of K. K. Resorts they threw the BJP flags and picked black flags and wore black badges to register their protest. The protesters shouted slogans demanding setting up of AIIMS at Jammu and ending discrimination with Jammu region. They warned the BJP of serious consequences in case it failed to keep its poll promises and continued working as second fiddle to the PDP. The cops who faced an embarrassing situation as they were caught by surprise could not decide how to control the situation as Singh was about to reach the venue of the public rally. However, later police managed to pursue the protestors to leave. Soon another group of protestors, who were in vehicles, arrived at the spot. The tampers also ran high as some BJP activists also came out and tried to challenge the protestors. Later police dragged away some scooterists to clean the road for Singh's cavalcade. |
