For BJP human problems of West Pak refugees are confined only to Rojee Rotee | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 27: For the self-styled "nationalist" BJP, problems of poor refugees from West Pakistan are confined only to getting two time meals. These refugees, who had voted in bulk to the BJP with a hope that this "nationalist" party has capacity to solve their 68 years old issues, are feeling betrayed because during the last one year BJP led NDA government has done nothing for these people. Today Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh was in the town to participate in the celebrations which were organised to mark completion of the one year tenure of Narendra Modi government at the Centre. Like other people of Jammu region, refugees from West Pakistan were also expecting some announcement from Union Home Minister but again they were assured with "assurances". In his typical style Rajnath Singh said that West Pakistan Say Aye Refugeon Ko Rojee Rotee Moohea Karbae Jaigee (West Pakistani refugees will be provided with meals). Union Home Minister has not touched the issue of proving basic human rights to these refugees. These refugees are not cattle for whom there are a need to provide Rotee. They are struggling since 1947 to get basic rights which are requisite for a human being to live a dignified life. They are struggling to get constitutional and fundamental rights but it appears that for BJP their problem is confined only to Rojee Rotee. BJP is the only party which had promised to restore citizenship rights to these refugees but after getting power the party is looking for one or another excuse to fulfil the commitment party had made with these refugees. In its official handout, BJP is also silent on granting citizenship rights to these refugees. "For the state of Jammu & Kashmir West Pakistan Refugees are going to be given some economic scheme in the near future and other displaced people will also be provided with some settlement arrangement. For the return of Kashmiri Pandits J&K government has been asked to identify land for their settlement in the valley and shortly this process would be activated. The Govt. of India is fully seized of the problems of the displaced people of various denominations settled in Jammu and the decision making in this regard has been fast tracked", official handout quoting Rajnath Singh said. |
