BJP celebrates Modi's one year in office 'secretly' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 27: The ruling Bahartiya Janata Party had to celebrate the completion of Narendra Modi's government in a closed hall to avoid embarrassment as Jammu observed complete bandh to greet the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Bandh was called against the government's decision to shift AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir. The fact that Rajnath Singh is the senior most minister and is second in command after the Prime Minister of India had to face a piquant situation during his stay in Jammu. While occupying the chair on the dais Home Minister was struggling to cope up with the heat due to poor air conditioning inside the hall. While addressing the meeting Singh must have gauged the mood of the audience as none of the local residents were present inside the venue. Majority of people who were assembled there were BJP workers only as the party leaders had failed to garner local masses due to Jammu bandh call against the proposed move of shifting AIIMS to Kashmir. According to inside reports initially the party was in the mood of organising the public rally where Union Home Minister was supposed to list out the achievements of Modi led NDA govt but when the party leaders realized that the AIIMS Coordination Committee had given a bandh call to press for their demands on May 27 the party decided to restrict the choice of venue for the function and it is only after receiving go ahead from the central leader it went ahead with organizing a closed function at Jan Kalyan Parv, a marriage hall away from Jammu city. The sole objective was to prevent any untoward incident during the bandh and to prevent any untoward incident in the presence of Home Minister. The security establishment too had given their nod to the venue of Jan Kalyan Parv as it was easy for them to screen the audience inside the restricted area to ensure proof security arrangements. |
