Mirwaiz South terms ISIS anti-Islamic | ISIS flags appear in Anantnag rally | | Saahil Suhail
Early Times Report
Anantnag, June 19: A group of masked men here on Friday after prayers waved flags of militant outfit ISIS during a rally organized by Mirvaiz South Kashmir Qazi Ahmad Yasir to commemorate the 21st death anniversary of his father-Qazi Nissar Ahmad. Eyewitness said that soon after Friday prayers Mirwaiz South Kashmir Qazi Ahmad Yasir along with his supporters started marching from Jamia Masjid to Idarah Tahqeeqat-e-Islami to offer special prayers to the slain leader who is buried there. On reaching Achabal Adda, a group of masked youth waved the flag of militant outfit ISIS in full public view. "Two youth who had covered the faces completely were spotted waving the flag and after fearing trouble both of them escaped along with the flag," a reporter who was covering the rally told Early Times. "It is worrying as the frequency of flag waving of the militant outfit increases day by day," a defence official pleading anonymity said, adding Army is closely monitoring the situation. However an intelligence officer based in Srinagar said that flags were being waved to get the attention of media. "It is just to gain your attention," he said. Meanwhile, Qazi Ahmad Yasir while addressing the gathering at Edirah Tahqeeqat-e-Islami too distanced himself from the flag controversy saying ISIS militant group is totally against Islam. "We don't have any sympathy with them whose flag was waved as they are totally against Islam," he said. Qazi said that Kashmiris have sympathy for only those who are fighting in Kashmir, Palestine and Burma. On the 21st death anniversary of the religious scholar Dr Qazi Nisar Ahmad who was also a member of MUF, a complete shutdown was observed in south Kashmir's Anantnag district today. |
