CUK's Tourism Studies deptt organises extension lecture | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 24: Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir (ATOAK) President, Rauf Tramboo, delivered an extension lecture on "Global Developments in Adventure Tourism" and "Entrepreneurship in Adventure Tourism" to the students of MTM in the Department of Tourism Studies (DTS), Central University of Kashmir (CUK) at Nowgam Academic block. Tramboo gave a detailed presentation highlighting the global scenario of adventure tourism and the issues faced by the State in attracting adventure tourists. He stressed the need to bring about awareness among the potential adventure tourists to visit Kashmir. He said the tourism professionals should take a lead in the tourism matters and should restructure their thoughts by thinking beyond the government jobs and focus more on entrepreneurship. Tramboo said the adventure tourism has an immense untapped potential that can be tapped only through professional entrepreneurship. "Adventure sports like rafting, kayaking, mountaineering, rock climbing etc are the latest travel motivations for the tourists," said Tramboo. He discussed avenues for the development of adventure tourism in the State and said, attempts are being made at the government level to bring about only tourism professionals to the forefront. The lecture was followed by queries from the students regarding the future potential of adventure tourism, job opportunities and entrepreneurial potentials in adventure tourism in the State, which were answered by the guest. The faculty members also interacted with the guest and discussed the issues and challenges faced by adventure tourism and how students can be prepared to understand and fulfill the requirements of the industry. |
