| J&K EDLWU condoles demise of lineman | | |

Jammu, June 24:J&K Electric Department Lineman and Workers Union (J&K EDL&WU) today held an emergency meeting under the President ship of Tara Chand Lakhotra to condole the demise of a lineman who died while repairing transfarmers at Haiti Morh on June 23, 2015. One minute moan was observed on the demise of the lineman Amar Singh, son of Dharam Singh resident of Village Sola District Kathua who died while repairing the Transformer at Haiti Morh.
In the meeting, the Union expressed concern over his death and requested to Executive Engineer and Assistant Executive Engineer M&RE Division & Sub Division Kathua to ascertain the cause of the death of the Lineman and also stressed upon the higher authorities of the Department to order inquiry into the matter. In the meeting, it was also said that this is not only one case but several cases of similar nature have been witnessed in the past but department never took it seriously and never tried to know why these deaths are happening.
In the meeting, a fervent appeal was made to the Government to pay compensation of Rs. 15.00 to the kids of the family members and also services to one of the family member as he was the only earning hand in the family.
The union has demanded to the Chief Engineer M&RE Circle Jammu to pay an amount of Rs. 3.00 Lacs from the Welfare funds to the family members within a period of 10 days and also appeal to issued instructlons/ directions to his subordinate staff that in future no such happening should be taken place with the Lineman. |
