| Police officials no exceptions | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 15: The second list of the tainted officials prepared by the government includes the name of a few senior police officials, who are likely to be shown the door, sources told Early Times on Wednesday. "The list of the "tainted" police officials was sent to the Chief Minister for approval. The Chief Minister, according to the sources, has given his go ahead to act against the police officials, who have amassed wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income. According to the sources, senior police officials who are allegedly involved in land grabbing cases are under scanner. "The senior officials are trying to exert pressure on the investigating agencies to get their names dropped from the list. These officials have strong connections in the bureaucracy and it is for this reason the list is being delayed. The CM is not budging an inch and is firm on his resolve to act against these officials. The Chief Minister wants to send the message that there will be zero tolerance to corruption and for this he has got full support of the central BJP leadership including the PM," said a senior official. The officials whose names figure in the list are trying to get close to the BJP leadership to save their skin but BJP leaders have expressed their inability to help them due to the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed leading from the front. "The corrupt officials had thought that they can manipulate the things in a manner they have been doing in the past, but now they have realized that getting their names dropped from the list is no cake walk as the new government is different from the erstwhile regime," said the official. |
