DLSA conducts seminar on 'Legal Literacy' at CT Group of Institutions | | | Early Times Report Pathankot, July 23 : The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) conducted a seminar on Legal Literacy at CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur Campus on Thursday. The seminar was held as a part of a special campaign to spread awareness among the general public regarding free legal aid schemes for ensuring easy access to the justice to under privileged section of the society. The event was held under the supervision of Rana Kanw-ardeep Kaur, Civil Judge (Senior division)-cum-Secretary DLSA who was the Chief Guest at the event. She shared her valuable words with the students. She said, "Such Seminars are very useful in creating awareness among the masses about different aspects of legal rules and possibilities. We will organize such seminars as a special campaign in the district". She also informed that DLSA will soon conduct surveys to identify senior citizens, street children and slum dwellers in the district to further rehabilitate them by maintaining and upgrading their existing facilities in the area. After receiving directions from the Punjab Legal Services Authority (PLSA) recently, the DLSA is coordinating with different NGOs from the district today to seek their support in the implementation of the directions issued by the Supreme Court to rehabilitate people in distress. Under the senior citizens' rehabilitation programme, some of the NGOs were given responsibility to carry out a detailed survey of the senior citizens in the district and also list details about their family members, their income source and also about their health record. Later, a similar survey will also be conducted on street children and slum dwellers. Also, the DLSA is planning to host a special senior citizen's felicitation programme in the district in August. S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions), Harpreet Singh (Vice Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) and Dr. Manoj Kumar (Group Director, CT Institutions) also marked their presence at the event. S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) said that such initiatives are very important to help homeless aged and children in getting their livelihood and homes. |
