Jammu, July 23: Despite lapse five years the construction work of two Sub Health Centers (SHCs) buildings in Bhaderwah is hanging in balance. The works was started during previous regime, but no one has cared to assess the works. Sources informed Early Times that the Public Work Department (PWD) had started works on SHCs with staff quarters building at Dranga and Drodhu in the year of 2011- 12, with an estimate cost of Rs. 70 Lakhs but surprisingly, four years on, the work is still incomplete. "It will definitely escalate cost of the project", sources said, adding that due to poor performance of concerned department it could not complete the work in time, due to which patients have to suffer and, interestingly despite availability of funds for the buildings, the institutions are running in rented accommodation. Castigating state government, locals of these areas said that being poor people of remote area, they don't have money to visit private health institutions. They further said that politician treated them as only their voters and during elections, and never fulfill their promises. These SHCs are catering more than dozens far- flung villages, who are spread across length and breadth of mountains. XEn Bhaderwah said that almost 90 percent work was completed, but due to paucity of funds, remaining work would not be completed. "We have sent repeated reminders to senior officials, seeking release of funds, but the funds are still awaited", he added. |
