Commoners fall in line, Health Minister's aides can enjoy! | Double Standards | | ET Report Jammu, July 23: Once again the transparency in the functioning of Health department under 'able' leadership of health minister has drawn flak as the minister has allegedly adopted different yardsticks for medical stores operating in Jammu and Kashmir. Reliable Sources in Health department informed Early Times that officials of Drugs & Food Control Organisation, J&K (D&FCO) closed a 24-hour medical shop in the premises of BEE ENN Hospital, Jammu after they pointed out a discrepancy. According to the rules the 24-hour medical shop has to be run by two or more license holders and one among them has to remain present in the shop. In this case officials found out that this 24-hour shop was being run by only one license holder following which the shop was closed. Sources said but the Health Minister has allegedly thrown rules to winds in another case as a 24-hour medical shop being run allegedly by a close aide of the Health Minister in the premises of Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) and hospital at Sidhara Jammu is run allegedly by one license holder and he visits his shop occasionally. "Owing to this, Minister's lieutenant has been continuously violating the rules made by D&FCO and it seems the guidelines or rules are only meant for common people and not those who enjoy Minister's Ashirwad," sources alleged adding that instead of taking action against the alleged defaulter, the officials of the D&FCO have turned a blind eye towards him while as other chemists who are not close to the minister are being dealt with sternly. When contacted Deputy Controller of D&FCO Lotika Khajuria failed to give a satisfactory reply saying, "We will look the matter," she said. |
