Has BJP brought any change in JK, asks Thackeray | 'Hoisting of Pak flags in Kmr, no signs of Achey Din have disappointed people' | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 23: Frequent hoisting of Pakistan flags in Kashmir, separatist calling shots and secessionist elements leaving no stone unturned to hit out at India have become a cause of concern for the nationalist forces across the country as the BJP which is a part of the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir has failed to put its foot down to prevent separatists from indulging in anti-India activities. The latest to express concern over the hoisting of Pakistani flag in Kashmir has been the Shiv Sena president Udhav Thackeray. In an interview to Sena mouth piece Samana, Thackeray said: "I want to know has BJP brought any change in JK after allying with the PDP? If Kashmir progresses, it is good. But bringing in a change does not mean giving the state a big financial package. People there should be turned back towards India," Thackeray said. He expressed dismay over the secessionist forces hoisting Pakistan flag in Kashmir. "Hoisting Pakistan flag is not acceptable. It's unfortunate that despite BJP being in power party is not doing anything to stop these anti-national activities and forces," Thackeray added. Pertinently, poor performance of the BJP ministers in the PDP-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir has embarrassed the party high command. The BJP during its election campaign left no stone unturned to corner the Congress led government at the Centre and blamed it for being soft towards separatists and terror. However, since the day BJP has taken over the reins of the country nothing seems to have changed. The Narendra Modi led government is following the footsteps of Congress led UPA government. Thackeray while commenting on Modi's slogan of Achey Din said, "Every morning when we open a newspaper, we keep reading the same news that once bored us...The thought which comes to our mind is that we used to read the same news before. Be it farmers' suicide, protests of the unemployed people, crimes against women," he said. "The BJP had promised 'Acche Din' to people and thus cannot cheat them now." Analysts believe that Thackeray's utterances are a precursor about the emerging situation and growing resentment against the BJP government at the centre and in the states. "Performance of BJP in Jammu and Kashmir has disappointed the people, especially the denizens of Jammu, who went out of the way to ensure that BJP wins maximum number of seats in the region," the analyst said. He said that failure of the BJP to even meet small demands of the people of the Jammu region has dismayed the masses. "People of Jammu have been crying hoarse to get AIIMS for the region but till date Centre has not paid any heed towards this important demand. On the contrary if one compares the NC-Cong regime with the present government one has to say that it used to take care of the sentiments of the people of both the regions. The previous regime had ensured that both Kashmir and Jammu regions get two Central Universities. Similarly why can't we have two AIIMS for two regions," the analyst added. A critic while talking to Early Times said: "Had BJP ministers acted and made it clear that secessionism won't be tolerated and there is no place for anti-India activities, it would have helped the party's cause but meek surrender of the BJP after assuming power has proved to be disastrous for the party which rode on Modi wave and swept India." |
