Ex-VC Punjab University visits birthplace after 30 yrs | Bhaderwah accords warm welcome | | Mohd Majid Malik Early Times Report
Bhaderwah, July 23: Prof Khairat Mohammed Ibn-e-Rasa, who is on two-week visit to Jammu and Kashmir, arrived in Bhaderwah valley his birth place a few days ago with his younger Son Dr Tasman , daughter in law and one grandson and granddaughter. Son of legendary Urdu and Kashmiri poet Rasa Javedani , Prof Khairat was born at Bhaderwah on October 5, 1926. He did his schooling from Govt Hr Sec School Boys Bhaderwah and B.Sc from GGM science College Jammu. Later he did masters in Chemistry from Aligarh Muslim University and after partition went to Pakistan. From Pakistan Khairat proceeded to Brown University America for further studies and did his Ph D in 1959. He was the first Vice-Chancellor of Multan University Pakistan. He also served as Vice-Chancellor Al-Khair University in PoK. He remained Vice-Chancellor of Punjab University Lahore from 1976 to 1984. He said that Bhaderwah is really a paradise on earth dense forest and rivers in Bhaderwah also offer more than a enjoyable view which in fact attract a large crowd of adventure seekers looking for activity-oriented vacations and discovering new ways to enjoy the outdoors .He also said that Bhaderwah Valley is fertile in talent which needs to be explored by providing proper platform so that the area is benefited economically and also appreciated the step taken by state government to establish University Campus in Bhaderwah and expressed wish government should declare Bhaderwah campus as a full fledged University of Bhaderwah. His Son Dr.Tasman chips in to aver, "My father is 90 year old but back in his native town, he is behaving like a child. My wife and my kids too are elated to be in this area which is also called Switzerland of India". He appreciated the development of the area. |
