150 Stranded Tourists Rescued in Leh | | | Early Times Report
sRINAGAR, July 23: More than 150 tourists were stranded on the Leh-Manali road in Ladakh region of J&K last night due to landslides caused by heavy rainfall. They were later rescued by police and civil administration officials. "The tourists were stranded when a landslide washed away a culvert on the Leh-Manali road last night. A team of police and civil administration officials rescued the tourists and took them to safety," a police spokesman said in Srinagar. He said the road has been blocked at several places due to landslides and the tourists had to trek a distance of 15 km before reaching the nearest functional bus point. |
