JAMMU, July 29: Alleging that the health sector in J&K is in shambles, Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and Former Minister today lashed out at the senior functionaries of the department for extremely fragile health care system and rapidly deteriorating health standards in the state with each passing day. Pointing towards the acute deficiency of doctors, para-medical staff, medicines and allied equipments, he said that the malady existed not only in the rural and remote areas but in the cities as well including the GMC Jammu, Super Specialty Hospital, SMGS Hospital besides others. He was told that thyroid test machine, 'Gamma outer' was non functional for the last one year in GMC Jammu and last two months in Super Specialty Hospital with patients being referred to private clinics. He said that out of 10 ventilators in ICU ward of emergency three were non-functional for the last six months. Similarly, he was told that in main ICU section of GMC, four ventilators were out of order for the last several months. He said that the CT-Scan machine in Super Specialty hospital had got damaged due to short circuit more than a month back with no initiative taken to repair the same. He regretted that the Super specialty hospital was working with borrowed staff including doctors and Para-medicos from GMC which had rendered both the institutes dysfunctional.
