Next 24 hours crucial for BJP | Options: Deliver or quit | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 29: Convinced that things have gone out of their hand and Jammu region is likely to witness a massive 72-hour shutdown beginning on July 31, a team of senior BJP leaders, including ministers, has gone to Delhi to meet with the party high command to discuss the prevailing political situation in the region following their failure to deliver the June 18 written promise. Insiders inform that the entire local BJP leadership has felt the pinch and realized that it would face the public wrath if the demands of the AIIMS Coordination Committee are not met within the next 24 hours. The prospect of a massive three-day-long bandh across Jammu region has alarmed and frightened the BJP leadership as well as the BJP ministers. The ACC has given bandh call for 72 hours starting from July 31. They also inform that they would also seek a meeting with the Prime Minister whose word would be final. "The next 24 hours are very crucial for the BJP. The outcome of the Delhi meet would determine the fate of the local BJP leadership and BJP ministers, particularly Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat. In case they failed to get fulfilled the demand for the establishment of AIIMS in Jammu within the next 24 hours, they would not be able to show their faces to the people. They are already feeling the heat. They will not be able to venture out of their houses. Their life would become a hell on earth. Their faces will be blackened beyond recognition. They are afraid of the ACC all the more because there are reports that the angry ACC could launch 'Pind Dan Movement' against all the 26 BJP MLAs, all the three MPs and all the MLCs from Jammu region. But more than that, the possibility of the people going in for an indefinite period has also become a headache for the local BJP leadership," sources in the party informed. The fear of the BJP leadership is well-founded. Indeed, an anti-BJP wave is sweeping the region. The options before the BJP are limited. Only two options are available: Deliver or quit. Let's see which of the two options the BJP exercises. Everything thing would become clear by tomorrow. |
