Four civilians, four CRPF personnel injured in Anantnag grenade attack | | | Saahil Suhail
Early Times Report ANANTNAG, July 29: Four CRPF personnel and four civilians' sustained injuries after militants hurled a grenade on the vehicle of forces in South Kashmir's Anantnag district. Reports said that at around 12:43 pm militants lobbed a grenade at CRPF personnel near Oxford Presentation School in the town. The grenade missed the target and exploded in front of the school gate. "Militants hurled the grenade and attacked security forces personnel when they gathered around the vehicle to collect their lunch," a senior police official said. He confirmed that four CRPF personnel of 96 Battalion of CRPF and the equal number of civilians sustained injuries. "The Injured were immediately moved to District Hospital Anantnag for treatment," he added. Police identified injured as Nisar Ahmad S/O Ali Mohammad R/O Poonch, Chander S/O Tilak Raj (CRPF 96 Bn) Sunil Dure (CRPF 96 Bn), Chaman Lal Sharma S/O Bakhshi Sharma (CRPF 96 Bn) while as injuried civilians were identified as Abdul Majeed Mir S/O Habibullah R/O Kadipora, Anantnag. Abid Ali Lone S/O Ali Mohammad R/O Sarnal, Anantnag, Gulam Mohammad Wani S/O Mohd. Abdullah R/O Sagam, Kokernag and Bashir Ahmad Rayoo S/O Gulam Mohammad R/O Uttersoo, Shangus. He confirmed that in the attack carried out by militants, a Scorpio (JKOIW 9622) parked near the school gate got damaged. The CRPF personnel who got injured in the incident were posted on Khanabal-Pahalgam road- route to Amarnath cave shrine. Pertinently, on Saturday (25th of July) an ice cream vendor died, when suspected militants tossed a grenade at a CRPF patrol party at Achabal adda. The grenade missed the target and exploded at the bus stand, injuring five civilians, including Muhammad Jabbar, who later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. |
