Locals stage protest over alleged use of sub standard material by GREF 7/29/2015 11:37:32 PM Early Times Report kathua, July 29: Alleging use sub-standard materials in construction of number of small bridges on Old Samba- Kathua road by the GREFauthorities, the locals from Sarkari Gurha village Hiranagar of Kathua district today staged protest demonstration against GREF authorities and said that number of small bridges constructed on old Samba- Kathua road got washed out during recent incessant rains. Talking to media persons one of the protestors Shubham Kumar accused GREF men of using sub-standard construction material while construction of such small bridges on Old Samba road which got washed away in recent incessant rains. He demanded inquiry of construction work. Another protestor Suresh Kumar said alleged that GREF authorities misappropriated central government funds further adding that GREF had built bridges just three months ago but these got damaged in incessant rains in recent past. Another local Suraj Singh said the matter was taken up with concerned authorities but no action has been taken in regard. Alleging GREF of using low quality material, Vijay Kumar said Union government should inspect the work and must take serious action against the corrupt officials. Prem Lal threatened to intensify stir if no action is taken against such corrupt officials and contractors and demanded early renovation of damaged bridges. Meanwhile Officer I/C Raj Kumar construction project discarded all allegations and said bridges were under construction and suddenly the flash floods triggered by heavy rains resulted into damages of few bridges and the same would be renovated soon.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
