Fruit plantation drive begins | | | Early Times Report Jammu. July 30: ASHI, an NGO today started fruit plantation drived Panchayats of Jagti and Panjgrain. According to press release, the NGO has been working for more than two and a half decade for upliftment and empowerment of women and girl children in distress. "The objective is fructified in a subtle manner by operating a short stay home", said Sushma Choudhary, Senior Vice President. The drive was stared in areas adopted by the NGO that are Jagti and Panjgrain panchayats. Kailash Rajput said in a statement that every year fruit plants were distributed by ASHI to the economically weaker section of the society and this year 2000 Phalsa plants were purchased from Indian Institute of Integrative medicine (IIIM) under a buyback programme to create income for the women. In the first phase one Thousand Phalsa plants were distributed to the women free of cost and the remaining number of plants will also be distributed on August 1, 2015. This income generating programme is the regular annual feature of ASHI to provide different fruit plants. The team of organisors consisted of (Prof) Kailash Rajput, Secretary ASHI and other senior members Nasreen Khan Joint Secretary, Simmi Gulati, Harbhajan Kour, Urmila Arora, Dr Rajkumari Sharma, Anjana Gupta, R C Bali and Ashok Kumar. Kailash Rajput said there is great enthiusiasm among the women to receive the plants and ensured to look after the plants according to the instructions from the experts. |
