Early Times Report
Kathua, July 30: Corrupt officials in the state leave no stone unturned to hamper the Human Resource Ministry (HRD) of India and the state government to streamline the education system. In a latest setback to the HRD efforts, officials of the education department have used old bricks and sub-standard material for constructing a wall around Government High School Ladoli. Samar Singh, Chairman Judiciary Panchayat Mangloor East accused the school management including the Sarpanch and the panch to squander huge funds meant for construction of boundary wall of the school. He said despite proper funding under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan SSA, old bricks and sub-standard material are being used for construction of the said wall. He said rural body and school management supervised the construction work and both are involved in the scam. A social worker, Kawal Singh alleged that Lacs of rupees have been embezzled. He said the ZEO Sallan said the funds are directly sent to School management's account and he had no information about misappropriation of SSA funds. According to official sources, funds are directly sanctioned to the school managements by the SSA for construction of boundary wall of the school. The school headmaster and the president of the school management committee look after the fund utilization. The SSA (Kathua) sanctioned Rs 3.20 lakh for construction of boundary wall of Middle School Lodli, Panchayat Mangloor East. The villagers too sought vigilance inquiry in the matter and strict action against corrupt Panchayat and school management members. Chief Education Officer, CEO Kathua Balbir Singh has no knowledge about the embezzlement. He promised to take action. |
