Rejects BJP idea to split it, reiterates 72-hour bandh call from today | CC wants full-fledged AIIMS for Jammu | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 30: Rejecting the idea to split AIIMS into two, the Coordination Committee, spearheading the agitation to have full-fledged AIIMS for Jammu region on Thursday called on the people of the Jammu region to observe a 72-hour shut down from July 31 onwards and remain firm on their demand. Pertinently, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda on Thursday announced that Jammu and Srinagar would be provided with AIIMS facilities. Nadda, who was the talking to the media after a meeting with the delegation of BJP leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, said, "In this Budget Session, we had announced that AIIMS would be established in Jammu and Kashmir, keeping in view, both the regions, Jammu and Srinagar, will be provided with AIIMS facilities." Soon after the J P Nadda announced that AIIMS would be split in two parts the Chairman of the AIIMS-CC and president of JKHCBA, Jammu, Abhinav Sharma addressed an emergency press conference at the venue of Relay hunger strike here saying, "The BJP has yet again betrayed and cheated the people of Jammu region by claiming that the Union Health Ministry has agreed to provide AIIMS-like facilities to Jammu region." "The BJP betrayed Jammu on March 1, when it overturned the February 28 decision of the Union Finance Minister that AIIMS will be established in Jammu and later released the obnoxious agenda of alliance which said the AIIMS will be established in Kashmir," he said the decision had shocked the people of Jammu region. Taking a dig at BJP leadership, Sharma said, "The BJP cheated the people of Jammu region yet again on June 18 by giving a written commitment to the ACC that the BJP would obtain a proper order about having full-fledged AIIMs in Jammu by July 20, 2015 but the BJP failed to fulfill by its commitment." "And it was BJP's deceit what made AIIMS-CC to resume its suspended agitation with full force more enthusiasm with the support of Jammu region's civil society," Sharma added. He said besides overwhelming response from people who joined relay hunger strike in support of Jammu's cause thousands of people participated in Lalkaar Rally on July 23 and also took out a massive candle light protest march in Jammu on July 30. "The BJP will have to pay a very heavy price not only in Jammu region, but also across the nation for the detestable fraud it committed today on the people of Jammu region, he said and added, "This was the third act of betrayal committed by the thankless and ungrateful BJP." Referring to today's statement from Union Minister over AIIMS, he said, "BJP today committed suicide in Jammu region and lost its face across the nation by indulging in dirty politics to defeat the noble cause of its own constituency." "People of Jammu region would teach them a lesson. They would not allow the BJP leaders to venture out of their houses," the chairman of the ACC said while urging people across Jammu region to come out on the streets on Friday to register their emphatic protest against the BJP and show it its rightful place by making the bandh a massive affair and a great success.
