Safapora widow seeks fire gap with neighbour | ACR, NT reluctant to act | | S.Tahir-Ul Haq Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 30: Hajra Begum an old widow from Waripora Safapora has gone from pillar to post to register a complaint against her neighbour for not leaving fire gap between the two houses. Hajra has forwarded an application to the DC Ganderbal seeking fire gap between her house and that of her neighbour 7 months ago. The then Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Hafiz had assured the old widow that the matter will be solved within days but nothing has moved till date. It has been learnt that the then DC, Sarmad Hafiz had directed Tehsildar Laar and Naib Tehsildar Safapora to address the matter, but nothing was done in this regard. Hajra told Early Times that revenue officials had failed to address her problem. "We don't have our own children so we adopted a daughter and I don't have any source of income, the whole family is run by her Son-in-law who works as a labourer, she said," she said. Hajra said that despite directions from DC Ganderbal, ACR Ganderbal and NT Safapora were delaying the matter for unknown reasons. The widow said the authorities seem to have taken bribe from her neighbour. Meanwhile Early Times contacted Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Ganderbal Naseer Ahmad Wani who said that, it is learnt from the concerned NT Safapora that the matter is in the civil court. "I will look into the matter but as for my knowledge is concerned that the case is in the civil court now, she has to approach the civil court, I can't do anything. It falls within the jurisdiction of Civil Court, ACR added. |
