Land grabbers-Revenue officials nexus ruling roost in Chowadi area | Shopping complex comes up on Govt land | | Akshay Azad ET Report Jammu, July 30: The sale of vast stretches of government land costing several Crores, is going on unabated in Patwar halqa Chowadi in city outskirts, wherein a shopping complex has also been raised by alleged grabbers. A unique modus-operandi used by land grabbers has also come to fore, according to which, these alleged land grabbers have been selling government land by issuing the revenue documents (fard) of genuine land holders, which itself exposed the alleged deep rooted nexus between some revenue officials and land grabbers. The political clout of alleged land grabbers and revenue officials could be gauged from the fact that despite admission by Deputy Commissioner Office Jammu in response to an RTI application, coupled with repeated appeals of locals at various platforms including State Vigilance Organization, Crime Branch, Chief Minister Monitoring Cell no action has been taken yet. Vikram Singh of Chowadi, while furnishing documents and reply of RTI application informed Early Times that land grabbers had sold government land, on the documents (fard) of his private land, which was under his possession. "The Revenue Department officials issued Fard (revenue document) of my land to the people, who purchased government land from these land grabbers in Patwar Halqa Chowadi", he said. According to the complaint filed by Vikram Singh before State Vigilance Commission (SVO), Singh has alleged that some land grabbers in patwar Halqa Chowadi had encroached upon prime government land in Khasra number 96 and 21, cost of which was several Crores. "In response to my RTI application number NTSB/'2014/15/194, the Revenue department had accepted that Khasra number 96 in Patwar Halqa Chowadi is government land", he said, adding that nearly 14 Kanals 6 Marlas land from same Khasra had already been encroached and sold by land holders. Moreover, the documents of Khasra number 100 and 101 were used for sale of government land in Khasra number 96 and 21. "Land in Khasra number 101 is owned by me and presently under my possession, so Fard of my land is used for sale of government land", Singh said. He further said that some Revenue officials have entered into criminal conspiracy with some land grabbers and transferred the government land to private land holders, thus causing huge loss to government exchequer, approximately value of land was nearly Rs. 10 Crores. Vikram Singh further said that he had filed a complaint before DC Jammu and ACR Jammu last year but both officers never displayed any interest. "I had also filed complaint to Crime Branch Jammu, State Vigilance Organization, Chief Minister's Monitoring Cell and had also submitted the RTI reply and my own land records but so far no action has been taken against these land grabbers", he said. "It is just a tip of an iceberg but the whole nexus and this illegal business of selling government land is running across Jammu outskirts and is in several hundred Crores. If government will initiate a probe several officials of Revenue department will land in jail", he said. Assistant Commissioner Revenue Jammu, Sher Singh said that he would enquire about the matter and if required would take action. He also asked to contact SDM South Shahid Mehmood, under whose jurisdiction, the said piece of land fall. SDM Jammu South, Shahid Mehmood didn't picked up his phone despite repeated calls on his personal cell. |
