Cong extends support to 72 hour bandh call, lashes out at BJP's dirty tricks | | | Early Times Report
jAMMU, July 30: Alleging BJP to taking on dirty tricks, the Congress while announcing its full support to the 72-hour bandh call by the AIIMS Co-ordination Committee from tomorrow over the issue of AIIMS for Jammu region today also decried attempts to mislead the people by the BJP leaders to sabotage the agitation. In a statement, party spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that it is very unfortunate that the BJP secured the mandate of the people of Jammu region by false commitments and now the party is trying to sabotage their struggle by creating confusion to mislead on the eve of bandh call. "Earlier, also bandh call on June 18, a written commitment was given to fulfill the demand by or before July 20th, which proved to be fraud. The party extends full support to the AIIMS Co-ordination Committee for bandh and to take the movement to logical end, he said. Spokesperson stated that a meeting of senior Congress leaders was held here today at Congress Headquarters which was chaired by Sham Lal Sharma-Senior Vice President and was attended by Raman Bhalla and Kanta Bhan-Vice Presidents; Rajnesh Sharma-Co-Treasurer; Thakur Balwan Singh, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Shabir Ahmed Khan, S. Manjit Singh, Ch Shah Mohammad, Vikram Malhotra (General Secretaries); President DCC Jammu Urban Anil Chopra, President INTUC Shiv Kumar Sharma and others. "During the meeting the participating members decided to further intensify the movement for the justified cause of Jammu region and condemned the efforts by the BJP to sabotage the movement by the false and misleading campaign to confuse the people by adopting various modes," he said. The party leaders appealed to the people to unitedly fight for the cause and lead the movement to the logical conclusions, as per initial announcement and written commitment for AIIMS in Jammu. The meeting was apprised that party shall hold protest dharna tomorrow at R.S.Pura besides another protest dharna shall be organized at Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu on August 2. |
