Students protest over shortage of teachers | | | Early Times Report
Samba, Aug 19: A large number of students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Samba today staged a protest demonstration against shortage of teachers. After boycotting their classes the students in shape of protest march towards the Jammu Pathankot National highway. Raising slogans demanding appointment of teachers in the school, the students held a dharna in front of tehsil office to lodge their protest before the Tehsildar. The students said that due to the shortage of teaching staff in the school, academic session of students is affected. "We were forced to lodge a protest as despite our repeated pleas for the appointment of teachers and no step has been taken so far," they alleged. "There is no botany teacher in the Higher Secondary School for the last two months. We appeal the education department to look into the matter and take immediate measures in this regard," said Reedhima Sharma, a protesting student. Chief Education Officer (CEO) Samba) Mangal Dev along with police officials reached to the spot and pacified the students by assuring necessary action in the matter. It was his assurance after which the students lifted their protest with a warning if their demands are not met at earliest they will be left with no option but to come to roads with intensified stir. |
