Transfer agenda shelved due to sharp differences between allies, Ministers | 'Coordination Committee has assumed role of Transfer Committee'….? | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 19: Despite much hype and puff of rumours, no transfers were ordered nor any approved by the PDP-BJP alliance in today's cabinet meeting. The meeting that was held after taking decisions on every single agenda except the transfers in administration and Police Department. This agenda remained untouched for a reason: there is no unanimity but disagreement between the two allies on most of the key postings and the officers they want on them. The disagreement first emerged in the Coordination Committee meeting that was held a day back and persisted today which is why the meeting is being held again on coming Friday. Highly placed sources said the two alliance partners have developed a sort of friction on the issue of transfers of top level administrative posts as also of officers in the Police department. There is acute clash of interest not only between the two parties but also at the level of ministers too who want to grind their axe in the transfers by posting their choicest officers on prime posts which matters in more than just one way. Surprisingly, the Coordination Committee which has been set up to discuss the contentious and political issues on which the two parties are poles apart have not been taking up any such matters as agenda of priority, said the sources adding that it (CC) has unfortunately become transfer committee and in its meetings only transfers are discussed. However, even after discussing the transfers as prime agenda, nothing emerged as there was disagreement on most of the posts and persons between PDP and BJP, sources said. They further said it was due to lack of unanimity on these issues that Coordination Committee meeting was postponed on earlier date- August 17, even as non availability of some members was attributed to it. However, there was no issue like that instead bickering both at the party level as well as differences between the ministers on the transfers. As the differences persisted in today's cabinet meeting, this agenda was shelved completely though it was the main one that was to be taken up on priority basis, sources further said. Lack of unanimity and disagreement on the transfers is a sharp contrast to the resolute mind Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed expressed through a proper order that this alliance Government would not entertain any DO letters for transfers nor would the ministers try to show interest in posting of choicest officers. The message that was sought to be given was that this Government unlike the previous government should not been seen as promoting transfer industry, sources added. |
