DC Jammu receives inquiry report, get four detained; PMO apprised | Minister's relatives on encroachment spree | | Sumit Sharma Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 19: The relatives of a Minister in coalition government are allegedly encroaching state land following which the residents of the Greater Kailash Colony raised hue and cry and even lodged complaint with the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). "The alleged encroachers are so influential that despite violating all norms, they managed JMC's permission. They first encroached the UEED's six marla land adjacent to the nullah and then other state land. Pertinently, as per UEED norms, any construction should be at least six marlas away from the nullah", the residents said. The residents started hue and cry when their approach road was encroached upon and they also knocked the door of court and got respite in the shape of a stay order. Meanwhile, in the latest development, the DC Jammu Simardeep Singh got four youth arrested after they were found engaged in the construction of a banquet hall. The four were handed over to the Greater Kailash Police for further action. The construction process had been started along the nullah at lane no 13, connecting extension lane number 14 at Greater Kailash which later claimed the approach road. Following the alleged encroachment, the locals lodged complaint with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and even represented their case before the DC Jammu and the Commissioner JMC. "Following the complaint, a revenue team was deputed for inquiry and the inquiry officer who happens to be the tehsildar, in his report said that the banquet hall is being constructed on the land measuring 16 kanal and some marlas against the 12 marlas as mentioned in the proposed site", Munish Sharma a local resident said. "When I lodged complaint to the concerned officers apprising them of encroachment, the owners of the proposed banquet hall slapped court notice on me in which allegations were made that I was demanding money from them. In the court notice it is was mentioned that banquet hall owners have 12 kanal land which is registered in revenue record", a local resident said. Meanwhile a senior police officer when contacted said that four were detained on DC Jammu's directions and later during investigation it was found that they were working in the banquet hall while the stay is on nullah. The four were later released, he said, adding a report in this connection is submitted to the Court and DC Jammu as well. |
