Embarrassment for BJP as Vikramaditya Singh questions status quo in J&K | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 29: Vikramaditya Singh, grandson of last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh and senior leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has created embarrassment for "nationalist" BJP after Singh has questioned status quo in Jammu and Kashmir. Although Vikramaditya Singh has not elaborated his view point on solving present situation, he had stated in a statement issued on Friday that current status quo in J&K is not acceptable to anyone in the State. Vikramaditya Singh had given this statement in the contest of recent firing on the International Border (IB) but this statement has so many meaning. He has indirectly attacked BJP leadership for not holding dialogue with Pakistan. "The current status quo in Jammu & Kashmir is not acceptable to anyone in the state as repeated ceasefire violations and other outstanding issues have not been adequately addressed by the Government of India", he stated in his hard hitting statement and said that the people especially in the border villages are losing hope and confidence in the Government. He further mentioned that the responsibility for bringing peace in the state and region lies with the Government of India and as a citizen and legislator of Jammu & Kashmir he would like to register a strong protest in the name of the border. Vikramaditya Singh's statement is a direct attack on policy of Union Government towards Pakistan because he has expressed his anguish over failure of the Centre in dialogue process. Shockingly Vikramaditya Singh had issued this statement on Friday but not even a single BJP leader has countered him despite the fact that he has challenged present status quo in the State. "It is still a question what is the meaning when Singh said that the current status quo is not acceptable to anyone in the State?". |
