JKCA row: HC notice to govt, sports minister on Farooq's petition | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Sept 2: The state high court today issued notice to government on a petition filed by NC patron Farooq Abdullah seeking directions to restrict government from interfering in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) affairs at the behest of rebel group headed by Imran Raza Ansari, Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports. A high court single bench of Justice Bansi Lal Bhat also issued notice returnable in one week to Ansari, Chief Secretary, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Director General Youth Services & Sports Srinagar, Rakesh Kumar, Sudershan Mehta, Director General of Police, Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar and Station House Officer of Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh here. In the petition, Farooq seeks directions to the government to refrain from causing any impediment and interference into JKCA affairs by any manner, mode or method at the behest of Ansari, Kumar and Mehta. Farooq also sought direction to the government and police to refrain from extending any kind of official support or help in any manner to Ansari, Kumar and Mehra regarding the affairs of JKCA and its activities by any manner, mode or method. "Official respondents be commanded to take effective and necessary measures for desealing of the record cupboards, almirahs, drawers lying in the respective office rooms of office bearers of petitioner Association (headed by Farooq) forthwith." Abdullah has also sought direction to initiate appropriate action against Divisional Commissioner and Director General Youth Services & Sports for their alleged wanton disregard of rules of duty committed on July 20 while participating in the "so-called meeting convened by Kumar."
