Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 5: The Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) has lambasted the Jammu University (JU) authorities for openly indulging in act of nepotism and favoritism through bye-passing all the established norms for conduct of interview for the contractual post of Lecturer in Remote Sensing and GIS. Addressing a press conference, JYF president Mohd Akram Ahmed said, "JU authorities have decided to hold the interview for contractual appointment for the post of Lecturer in Remote Sensing and GIS on Monday i.e. 7th of September, 2015 which is a sheer act of corruption and nepotism as the eligibility norm for the said post is ambiguous and aimed at extending to a blue-eyed candidate." He elaborated that earlier the interview was scheduled to be held on 18th August, 2015 but could not be held due to the fact that eligibility conditions were controversial and had created stir on the campus. Due to sustained pressure from various quarters the JU authorities cancelled the interview for said post but now they have fixed the date on 7th of September which clearly indicates that the Vice Chancellor himself wants to extend undue favour to a blue-eyed, he alleged. Mohd Akram Ahmed mentioned that the same post was also advertised in the year 2014 and flouting the UGC norms the eligibility was made a bit flexible for the blue-eyed candidate with desirable condition of PG Diploma in Remote Sensing & GIS (In case of candidates with Masters Degree other than Remote Sensing and GIS/ Geo Informatics). The controversial eligibility norm created stir after which the JU authorities cancelled the interview. But this year, they again advertised the position but in contractual capacity to favor the same blue-eyed person, he explained. The JYF flayed the Chancellor (Governor) and Pro-Chancellor (Chief Minister) for turning a blind eye towards this nepotism mess in the University and urged them to wake up from deep slumber and must act to save the institution from further deterioration and degradation. Among those who were present in the press conference included Pardeep Kumar, Anuj Sharma, and Sanjay Sharma.
